The world of bitcoin is constantly evolving, and with it, the need for education about this new financial technology. In recent years, a growing ecosystem of bitcoin-focused media has emerged to provide free educational resources to the public. These media outlets offer a variety of content, from introductory guides to in-depth technical analysis.

The rise of bitcoin-focused media is a response to the growing demand for information about this new technology. As bitcoin becomes more mainstream, more people are looking for ways to learn about it. These media outlets are filling that need by providing accessible and informative content that helps people understand bitcoin and its potential.

Bitcoin Magazine

Christian Keroles, or CK, is the General Manager of Bitcoin Magazine, the Bitcoin Conference and Co-Host of the Fed Watch Podcast. CK said that he is on a mission to bring bitcoin to the world as quickly as possible and accelerate its adoption through education.

Bitcoin Magazine provides free insights into the bitcoin ecosystem ranging from daily news stories to cultural commentaries and in-depth technical discussions. “Bitcoin is not only a technology but also a movement and BTC Inc strives to be the platform for the Bitcoin movement to manifest itself,” CK said about their parent company.

The platform characterization is apt considering I got my start as a writer at Bitcoin Magazine over a year ago after stumbling onto their article submission guidelines. BTC Inc also produces the largest bitcoin events in the world. Their annual bitcoin conference will be held in Nashville next summer.

Peter McCormack worked in the advertising industry for 20 years before deciding that he hated it. “I quit, found bitcoin through the Silk Road, started a podcast, made some films, bought a football team and a bar… it has been a wild ride,” McCormack told me in our interview, reminiscing on his journey to becoming the largest bitcoin podcast in the world.

He said that the show began as a therapeutic endeavor which helped him through his difficult divorce, but realized that it could become a career after signing his first advertising contract.

Discussing his target audience, McCormack says that he just makes the show that he wants with the questions he wants answered. “Still, this has evolved and I now try and target the broadest range of guests and the broadest list of topics possible,” he added.

More recently, McCormack has said he is making a deliberate effort to showcase more left of center views on the podcast in order to help break the right leaning political narratives. McCormack’s podcast records over a million downloads a month and exceeded 14 million downloads in 2022.

Tuttle Twins

Daniel Harmon is the creator and showrunner of Tuttle Twins TV Show, an award-winning cartoon that teaches kids about principles of freedom and economics. Tuttle Twins is based on the book series that has sold over 5 million copies and in 2020, and caught the attention of Bitcoin Twitter after airing an episode about bitcoin in May of this year.

When asked why he decided to make a bitcoin episode, Harmon told me that he never felt bitcoin has been explained in a way that adults can understand, let alone kids. “We wanted kids and parents to know that when money is easy to make, society begins to break,” Harmon said, quoting a line from the episode.

Feedback from the episode has been overwhelmingly positive according to Harmon and his team, evidenced by a quote from one of the fans; “[the bitcoin episode] convinced my wife in 20 minutes what I have failed to do in 7,000 hours.”

Harmon said that they will likely feature bitcoin again due to the viral reaction from the bitcoin community. “Ultimately, our goal is to explain bitcoin in a way that kids, and let’s be honest, parents, can finally understand it,” Harmon concluded.

Bitcoin News

Leon Siegmund is Co-founder and CEO of BitcoinNews.com. Before BitcoinNews.com, Siegmund organized dozens of bitcoin meetups around the world and brought the first bitcoin ATMs to the Maltese Islands. He started working on BitcoinNews.com in November 2019.

Siegmund said that their inspiration came from the crypto and media landscape who he views as failing to effectively educate readers. “In our view these publications actively participate in confusing and misleading savers and investors,” Siegmund told me in our interview. His goal to be a better venue for bitcoin focused education.

BitcoinNews.com is now a global brand with most readers from the U.S., Canada, the UK, India, Africa and also Germany and the Nordics. They also boast a writing staff from a dozen different countries.

As bitcoin continues to gain popularity, this ecosystem is likely to continue to expand. This will provide even more people with the opportunity to learn about bitcoin and its potential to change the way we think about money.
